Flurry Confirms Apple Tablet Existence

by Michael Comeau on January 25, 2010

Yep, another update on Apple’s tablet/pad/supermegaphone/bowling ball.

MobileCrunch is reporting that mobile data analyics firm Flurry has detected Apple’s new and possibly imaginary Tablet device on the company’s Cupertino campus.

Here are some datapoints:

  • the most popular category of downloaded apps were games, followed by entertainment. This makes sense – Electronic Arts (ERTS) is a rumored partner in the Apple Tablet.
  • the Apple device was running OS 3.2 – which has not been announced yet

This all sounds very compelling, but could this OS 3.2 build simply be a new iPhone? I’m eager to see an Apple Table, mostly out of curiosity, but I think people need to get ready to be disappointed. Steve Jobs really has his work cut out for him. As I’ve said, the media cabal obsessing over this mythic tablet is out of control.

Ugh I’m such a hypocrite…
