I love Apple (AAPL) products. I love my Macbook with iLife, iWork, and Aperture 2.0 software. I also love my iPod Touch, even with its lousy headphones. I also love going to the Apple store. The computers have Internet access and you can play with everything you might want to buy. And all Apple stores have bathrooms you can use! Take that Best Buy (BBY)!
Seriously though, the best place to buy a Mac or Macbook is Amazon.com (AMZN).
Why? First, Amazon doesn’t bust your chops when you want to return something. If it doesn’t work, send it back. Amazon may charge a restocking fee, but it’s a better deal than MacMall, which does not accept returns on Apple products. Keep in mind, however, that anything screwy will be covered by Apple’s warranty. And Apple doesn’t jerk people around on service – they understand it’s good business to spend a little money to make a customer happy. That’s unlike some unnamed PC companies that would rather pay a call-center worker to fight your claim.
And secondly, the price is always right.
The entry-level $999 Macbook only costs $955 at Amazon. There’s an even bigger discount on the Macbook Pro
. Aperture 2.0 software is $199 straight from Apple, but Amazon will hook you up for twenty-three bucks cheaper.
Amazon also has a particularly awesome deal on the AppleCare Protection Plan
for 13″ Macbooks – it’s just $175, or 30% off the Apple price! That’s crazy!
Amazon will also save you $17 on the iPod Touch, which at least takes care of the sales tax in some states.
So again folks, the Apple Store is most definitely an awesome place to shop. But if you really want the best deal you can find, try Amazon.
